MONTEFALCO:Montefalco, at 42 km from Petrata Castle, is in a dominant position from which you can admire the spacious panorama of the Umbrian countryside. Among the more important buildings to visit are the municipal building dating from the 13th century, the church of San Bartolomeo, of romanic origin, the church of Santa Chiara, where many examples of the Umbrian School can be found. The National Gallery is to be found inside the church of Saint Francis, which dates back to the 14th century, where there is also a Nativity scene by Perugino and a cycle of frescoes by Benozzo Bozzoli. One of the town’s most important products is the famous Sagrantino wine, which is celebrated in August at the wine festival. |
