FOOD AND WINE ROUTESAcqualagna, Black Truffle Fair (14th and 15th of August). The esteemed Black truffle is to be found mostly in the appenines of Umbria and the Marches, it is collected from the 1st of December to the 15th of March. Acqualagna, White Truffle Exhibition (last week of October and 1st and 2nd weekend of November). This is the most important Truffle show in Italy, where you can taste the unique and inimitable Esteemed White Truffle of Acqualagna. Costano, Pork Festival (Last week of August). One of the oldest festivals in Umbria. Cannara, Onion Festival (September). The most charming squares of this little town become market places where the onion has the lead role. The stalls and taverns offer a menu entirely based on onion recipes from the starter to the dessert. Market, Exhibition and Festival of the Red Potato (August) This festival offers dancing, lucky dips with rich prizes, pubs with live music, and numerous activities as well as the excellent food based on the use of the famous red potato from Colfiorito. Foligno loc. Annifo, Lentil Festival (August) Here you can taste typical local specialities, especially lentils. Gubbio, Market and Exhibition of Truffle Wine and Food products (end of October- early November) This is one of the most important autumnal events for the excellent quality of the local truffle (Tuber Magnum Pico) and for numerous other delicacies (extra virgin olive oil, sheep’s cheese, Norcia delicacies, selected meats, typical desserts and cakes, honey…) Gubbio, The Tastes of Italy ( all December) at Palazzo Consoli- allthe regions of italy are present with their typical produce and products. Montefalco open wine cellars (last Sunday in May) Tasting of Montefalco wines in the place that produces them, visits of the cellars and vinyards, and getting to know the origins and characteristics of the local wine-producing culture. Montefalco, a goblet of stars ( 10th of August) A summer appointment organised by the Wine Tourism Movement, which offers visitors the chance to watch the falling stars of San Lorenzo accompanied by a good quality wine. August in Montefalco ( August) Artistic and cultural events , accompanied by interesting enogastronomic offers in the taverns. Montefalco, Open Mills (November) wine and food event which takes place in the olive pressing mills, to show the public the oil making process and to give people a first chance to taste the new oil. Montefalco, Going around the Mills and the little Markets ( 1st weekend of december), event offering a first chance to taste the new oil. Perugia 'SayCheese' Rocca Paolina (28th of April -1st of May). A gastronomic cheese festival. Perugia, Eurochocolate ( 13th- 21st of october) The best loved and most well attended chocolate festival in Italy, consacrating Perugia as European chocolate capital. For nine days the Umbrian capital is transformed into a giganticopen air sweet shop for the delight of all cocoa lovers. Torgiano, Wine stasting stand ( end of November) This wine tasting event is attended by the most knowledgable enologists and wine critics from all over the world. The event is organised with utmost care so that all the wines presented to the jury have undergone extensive testing. Trevi, New Oil Festival ( first week of December) dedicated to the new oil, where the public has a cance to get to know the entire oil producing process, from the harvest to the bottling. Valtopina., Truffles and Typical produce, Market and Exhibition ( 3rd and 4th weekend of November). One of the most important food and wine events in Umbria. Tasting of and talks about the Truffle of Valtopina and a chance to taste the rich, truffle-based specialities of the zone. |
